On Friday, the Northern Kentucky Substance Abuse Helpline – 859-415-9280 – went live, available to serve folks in our community 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
In Northern Kentucky last year, there were 1,168 opioid/heroin overdoses at St. Elizabeth’s emergency rooms, approximately 2,500 adults using medically-assisted treatment to overcome opioid/heroin addiction, and 217 individuals who died from an opoid/heroin drug overdose. A recognized medical expert in addiction estimates there are between 8,000 and 26,000 opioid/heroin addicts in Northern Kentucky.
The Substance Abuse Helpline is another step forward in combating this onslaught. Thirty-five percent of Northern Kentuckians report having a friend or family member struggling with opioid or heroin addiction.
Hold onto the Substance Abuse Helpline information in the attached releases in case someone you know has a need, and please share it with anyone you know who might be seeking help for a loved one.
