Northern Kentucky Board – KY Agency for Substance Abuse Policy

Who We Are

The Kentucky Agency for Substance Abuse Policy (KY-ASAP) was created in 2000 to develop a strategic plan to reduce the prevalence of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use among youth and adult populations in Kentucky and coordinate efforts among state and local agencies. Housed within the KY Office of Drug Control Policy, KY-ASAP embraces and incorporates the philosophy of Office of National Drug Control Policy to involve the three-pronged approach of prevention, treatment and law enforcement. During State Fiscal Year 2012, $1,740,200.00 was awarded to 73 KY-ASAP Local Boards as annual funding. A key concept of KY-ASAP is policy change.

In Northern Kentucky, Mental Health America of Northern Kentucky and SW Ohio acts as the fiscal agent for the NKY ASAP Board.  In 2012, NKY ASAP Board  received a Drug Free Communities Grant  to unite the coalitions with other regional and state resources to strengthen the prevention efforts, which has since morphed into the NKY Regional Prevention Alliance.
